I began my career in Rwanda and Liberia, as a documentary photographer and travel writer. Over four years I photographed the work of the United Nations, International Rescue Committee, The Carter Center, Nike Foundation, Save the Children, and the World Wildlife Fund, among others. Projects ranged from urban justice initiatives in Monrovia’s slums to the improvement of Liberia’s weak rural health infrastructure.

As an AP photographer, my photos were published by BBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Fox News, San Francisco Chronicle, Huffington Post, and other news outlets.
